The
Columbus Chapter

& Flory.
- Progress has been made in the steps necessary for acquiring formal
chapter status. At least 30 paid founding members are required. In
January NAWBO Columbus had 36 members. An elections and nominating
committee has been appointed to develop an elections process and slate
of candidates for chapter officers. A by-laws committee is reviewing
material to establish chapter by-laws.
Unique Features of NAWBO
Columbus has a variety of
private and public organizations that represent or support women
business owners. NAWBO is unique among these organizations because of
the following features:
- Chapter members must be business owners. NAWBO is organized and
directed by women business owners. Each chapter is goverened according
to a set of chapter by-laws developed by the chapter and based on
national guidelines. Non-voting members are sponsors and supporters who
have a range of membership options.
- Dues and fees are payable to the national organization and the
local chapter.
- NAWBO links women business owners to a national and international
network.
- As a result of NAWBO's collective buying clout and growing
partnerships with Fortune 500 Companies, discounts on products and
services offer benefits to members.
- Access to the chapter meetings, regional retreats, national
conferences, and leadership training programs.
- A Leadership Institute for the established woman business owner -
as well as cuting edge research, both overseen by the NAWBO foundation.
- Action alerts to important legislative issues affecting women
business owners.
